Vitoria-Gasteiz acogerá el próximo día 21 de marzo la celebración del Día Internacional de los Bosques impulsada por la iniciativa Juntos Por los Bosques (http://juntosporlosbosques.ingenierosdemontes.org), colectivo que agrupa a más de 30 entidades representativas del sector forestal del Estado. La jornada, que se celebrará en la capital alavesa con motivo del 25 Aniversario del Anillo Verde, contará con un acto institucional y jornadas técnicas de expertos y expertas. Este Día Internacional que se conmemora cada año desde 1971 tiene como lema “Bosques y ciudades sostenibles: vivamos en ciudades más verdes y saludables” y busca resaltar el papel de las zonas verdes urbanas no sólo como pulmones de la ciudad, reguladores de las condiciones climáticas y adaptación frente al cambio climático, sino también por su contribución a estilos de vida más saludables que favorecen una mejor salud física y mental, al tiempo que sirven como punto de socialización. La celebración del Día Internacional de los Bosques es una iniciativa de Naciones Unidas de la que en el Estado se hace eco la plataforma ‘Juntos por los Bosques’.

Este año, la celebración del Día Internacional de los Bosques tendrá lugar en Vitoria-Gasteiz, coincidiendo con el 25 aniversario de la creación del Anillo Verde, una iniciativa entonces pionera que ha servido como referente a otras ciudades y que mereció en 2012 el distintivo European Green Capital para la capital alavesa.

Con este Motivo, Juntos por los Bosques y el Ayuntamiento de Vitoria-Gasteiz, con la colaboración del Ministerio de Agricultura y Pesca, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente, el Gobierno Vasco, la Diputación Foral de Álava y Baskegur organizan una jornada que incluye ponencias y actividades.
