Estudiantes de primaria de Sant Celoni analizarán el estado de salud del río La Tordera

Taller PROECO Observatori de la Tordera

Investigadores del Instituto de Ciencia y Tecnología Ambientales (ICTA-UAB) impartirán el próximo viernes día 9 de junio, de 9 a 13 horas, un taller a los niños de educación primaria de la escuela Josep Pallerola i Roca de Sant Celoni para determinar el estado de salud del río la Tordera. La actividad se realiza en el marco del Programa de Educación y Comunicación Ambiental (Proeco) del Observatorio de la Tordera, y se enmarca en las acciones de la Setmana de la Natura.

La actividad invitará a 45 niños de 4º curso de primaria a convertirse en investigadores del Observatorio por un día, encargándose de determinar el estado de salud de un tramo de río a través de la identificación de dos de los bioindicadores, la vegetación de ribera y los macroinvertebrados.

A lo largo de este curso académico, el PROECO ha centrado su actividad en diferentes centros educativos de primaria de los municipios de Sant Celoni y Malgrat de Mar. Este curso, 300 niños de 3º y 4º curso han participado en las diferentes sesiones de esta actividad. Los centros que han participado son Montnegre, Avet Roig, Soler de Vilardell y La Tordera (Sant Celoni) y los centros Marià Cubí, Vedruna, San Pedro Chanel, Fonlladosa y Montserrat (Malgrat de Mar).

El Observatorio de la Tordera es un proyecto iniciado en 1996 con el objetivo de determinar el estado de salud de los diferentes tramos de la Cuenca del Tordera a través de indicadores biológicos, hidrológicos y fisicoquímicos.

En 2003 el proyecto del Observatorio puso en marcha su propio Programa de Educación y Comunicación Ambiental llamado PROECO, coordinado desde el ICTA-UAB a través de su grupo de investigación Conservación, Biodiversidad y Cambio Global (Nycticorax), con la intención de poder acercar la ciudadanía que habita en la Cuenca del Tordera al río y cambiar la visión negativa que se tiene de él.

La Setmana de la Natura, que tiene lugar del 2 al 11 de junio, es un momento del año para tomar conciencia de la necesidad de conservar el medio ambiente y nuestro patrimonio natural. Durante 10 días, se organizan más de 300 actividades en Cataluña por la conservación de la naturaleza y el medio ambiente, para jóvenes y mayores, en el mar, la montaña y la ciudad.
