Premi Medi Ambient a Paco Muñoz


La Generalitat de Catalunya ha concedido el Premi Medi Ambient -a título póstumo- al que fue técnico de la Oficina de Medio Ambiente de la UAB durante más de 20 años, Paco Muñoz, por su contribución a la lucha contra el derroche alimentario. 

El presidente de la Generalidad de Catalunya, Quim Torra, concedió el martes, 5 de junio, por la noche, en el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, en un acto en el Palau de la Generalitat, el Premio Medio Ambiente al geógrafo y técnico de la Oficina de Medio Ambiente de la UAB durante más de 20 años, Paco Muñoz, a título póstumo.

El premio -que recogió su mujer, la geógrafa Anna Tardà- se le ha otorgado por su contribución en la lucha contra el despilfarro alimentario, tanto en la UAB como a través de la plataforma "Aprofitem els Aliments", de la que es el fundador.

Paco Muñoz -incansable cuando se trataba de trabajar para mejorar todo lo referente al medio ambiente- también promovió iniciativas innovadoras y encabezó proyectos en ámbitos como la gestión de residuos y la adaptación medioambiental de máquinas de "vending" y de fiestas mayores (vasos reutilizables).

Muñoz empezó a trabajar en la UAB en 1992. Hasta 1997, trabajó como técnico superior del Fondo Estadístico de la Biblioteca de Ciencias Sociales. Posteriormente se incorporó a la Oficina de Medio Ambiente, donde estuvo destinado durante más de 22 años.

Su gran dedicación profesional contribuyó decisivamente a que la UAB fuese excelente en temas de gestión ambiental tales como la gestión de los residuos, la ambientalización de eventos y el despilfarro alimentario. Gracias a él, la UAB ganó mucho: la Fiesta Mayor de la UAB tuvo, cuando nadie conocía el concepto aún, un "vaso reutilizable", o una "gotimplora", o una comida contra el despilfarro alimentario en la Plaza Cívica, que se hace cada año cerca de la diada de Sant Jordi, para recaudar alimentos para el Banco de Alimentos, entre muchas otras iniciativas que impulsó.

La Generalitat también ha reconocido con el Premio Medio Ambiente a la entidad ecologista Depana. Y también ha distinguido a la empresa Masias Maquinaria en la modalidad de investigación, por una prueba piloto para alargar la vida de los tejidos, y en la modalidad de iniciativas, el proyecto de simbiosis industrial del Polígono Bufalvent, así como la iniciativa de la Associació Espigoladors de lucha contra el despilfarro.
