Montserrat Sarrà Adroguer. (Girona, 1965). Graduated in Chemistry, specialty in Industrial Chemistry, (UAB, 1988). PhD in Science (Chemistry) by UAB 1994. Her PhD Thesis was focused in the development of a biotechnological process for an hybrid antibiotic production by Streptomyces lividans TK21. Postdoctoral stay in the Advanced Centre for Biochemical Engineering (University College London) 1995, in a project focused on the erythromycin production. From 1997 has been centering her research activity on the area of environmental biotechnology and in particular on the biological treatment of industrial waste water containing low biodegradable organic pollutants. From 1988 she is professor of the Chemical engineering Department and she has been responsible of the doctorate studies in her department. So she has participated in the coordination of two interdisciplinary doctorate programs such as Biotechnology and Environmental Science. From the course 2006-07 she is the coordinator of the Official Master in Environmental Studies and from the course 2007-08 she is also the coordinator of the Doctorate Program on Environmental Science and Technology.
