Stephanie is a PhD fellow at ICTA working with the GREENLULUs research project that falls under the Social Sciences specialization and the research line Cities and Environmental Justice. She is a native of Boulder, Colorado in the United States and holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Colorado and a double MSc in environmental science and agriculture at the University of Hohenheim and Copenhagen University with specializations in Climate Change and Environmental Management.
Current research interests are in exploring the relationship of so-called sustainable urban development, and urban greening in particular, to distressed communities in European and American cities as well as the response of these communities to this trend in urban development using political ecology and environmental justices lenses. Stephanie is interested in examining these issues by looking at governance as it relates to urban planning, the production of urban environments from both the perspective of developers and bottom up actions, the right to the city, and the role urban greening plays in capital expansion.
