Sofía Avila-Calero is a Mexican PhD student and Conacyt fellow working on the social and biophysical dimensions of renewable energy production. She is developing her project under the lens of ecological economics, political ecology and the possibilities of alternative energy futures. Before starting her PhD, she completed a Masters Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Environmental, Economic and Social Sustainability (ICTA-UAB) and a Bachelor Degree in International Relations (National Autonomous University of Mexico).
At ICTA-UAB she is a part of the Environmental Justice research team. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Mesoamerican Society of Ecological Economics.
