My research deals with planktonic and benthic foraminifera, calcareous zooplankton / benthos that inhabit the water column and substrate, respectively, of the marine environment. I am primarily interested in the trace element and stable isotopic geochemistry of these organisms and how these methods can be exploited for the reconstruction of past ocean / climate conditions. The primary parameter of interest is upper ocean temperature, but there are numerous others as well. I am also interested in modern sampling and calibration / validation activities, in order to refine our understanding of the "proxies" used to decipher the past. Our group is working in study areas from around the globe, and with diversity in both timescales and temporal resolution.
