…Indicadores sanitarios nos hablan de las consecuencias de las olas de calor y de los efectos de la contaminación ambiental en la salud humana. El verde urbano, lo agrícola, forestal y lo no intervenido, se resiente, dando cumplidas muestras de desertificación y pérdida patrimonial irrecuperable.

Necesitamos actuar en local, transformando los núcleos urbanos para reducir el efecto isla de calor, cambiando el paradigma de diseño urbano sobre la ciudad consolidada, y sobre la que vendrá a futuro. Hoy más que nunca necesitamos redefinir el modelo establecido de ciudad, reciclándolo con acciones concretas y reales mediante una visión transversal y global.

Concebir el árbol como pilar fundamental de cara a la mejora de la infraestructura Verde Urbana de las ciudades, y hacerlo con celeridad. Trabajar en tiempo presente, requiere pensar a la vez en futuro sobre las decisiones que se acometen, exige visión a mayores plazos que los marcados por legislaturas, y conlleva estar abierto a los cambios.

Arboricultura, movilidad, infraestructuras, urbanismo, medio ambiente, salud, sociedad, deben trabajar mediante consenso y con acciones políticas que defiendan estrategias a medio y largo plazo, en un modelo de ciudad común a todos.

En esta ocasión, para el XVIII Congreso Nacional de Arboricultura, el cual se celebrará en la ciudad de Vitoria-Gasteiz, durante los días 28 y 29 de mayo de 2020, pretendemos incorporar perfiles complementarios a los contenidos puramente técnicos entendiendo que, bajo una razonada línea argumental, apoyada en la transversalidad, conseguiremos alcanzar los objetivos comunes.
