Violeta is a postdoctoral researcher in the coordination team of the project “Moving Towards Adaptive Governance in Complexity: Informing Nexus Security (MAGIC)”, an H2020 funded under the call WATER-2b-2015. Her research includes water governance systems, water policy implementation strategies and water metabolism of social-ecological systems. She recently finished her PhD in Human Geography at the University of Seville, focused on integrated assessment of water governance in semi-arid watersheds. She holds a Msc. Applied Ecology at the University of Halmstad in Sweden, a Msc. Integrated Watershed Management at the University of Granada and a bachelor in Environmental Sciences at the University of Malaga. Research interests
My current research in MAGIC focuses on the nexus between water-energy-food and land uses, and the multi-scale connections between water governance, socioeconomic and eco-hydrological processes. I am particularly interested in transdisciplinary practices and the integration of quantitative analytical methods in participatory processes. I am also keen on open science, open data and the role of ICTs in citizen science and participatory governance.
Keywords: water metabolism; water governance; water-food-energy nexus; citizen science; participatory research.
