Martí Rufí Salís

Martí Rufí Salís has a background in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and holds a Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialisation in Urban and Industrial Ecology. He is now a PhD Student at ICTA-UAB, working with Sostenipra Research Group. Martí's thesis is working on enhancing urban agriculture by implementing circular economy strategies to integrated rooftop greenhouses (i-RTGs). He is also affiliated to the Engineering School of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Department). Martí teaches part of the subject of Industrial Ecology in ICTA's Master's Degree and part of the subject of Experimentation in Chemical Engineering in the Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He is also the co-supervisor of different Master's Thesis.

Research interests
Urban agriculture (UA) is a novel field of research, focusing on decreasing abroad food supply to cities and its impacts. Integrated Rooftop Greenhouses (i-RTG) is one option in UA that benefits from the building interactions with the greenhouse, in terms of CO2, residual heat and rainwater. Moreover, with a circular economy perspective, some strategies can help make this system more sustainable. Additionally, tools like Life Cycle Assessment, considering the entire Life Cycle of products or infrastructures, can help detecting sources of impact. Apart from my thesis, I'm interested in everything related to circular economy, life cycle thinking, ecoefficiency... and sustainability in general.
