A native of Falconara Marittima, Italy, Michele holds a Bsc in Aerospace Engineering from University of Bologna and a Msc in Thermomechanical Engineering from Technical University of Marche. After his Master degree, he worked as engineer in Bologna, but later came back to university to start his PhD at ICTA-UAB, under the supervision of Prof. Mario Giampietro.
Research interests
In his PhD thesis, Michele is developing a quantitative assessment of the impacts of unconventional oil on the metabolism of modern societies, using Relational Analysis and MuSiASEM as theoretical tools. Western world is facing a transformation of the fossil energy sources that fuel modern civilization, moving away from easy and cheap oil to more complex, polluting and expensive unconventional oils. The patterns of production and consumption of energy and materials are going to change and an integrated analysis, in order to deal with possible future scenarios, is missing
